I must post a counterpoint to the comments made by Connie on her web site regarding Paris Hilton. What I want to know is not whether she is a nice, or even just normal person or not, (as Connie claims from watching her show) but rather, what she did to merit having a show in the first place. I mean, I consider myself a nice enough person, but really, I doubt anyone is interested in watching my show, which I must confess, has been getting horrible ratings. It seems to me that Paris Hilton’s celebrity is a self fulfilling prophesy – because E! decided that she would be famous, so it came to be. The problem is that not only is Paris Hilton not smart, but neither are the guys at E! who decided that she should be popular. Why is it that we let morons dictate to us who is worthy of our attention? It’s kind of a funny thing in this day and age when everyone has a remote control that there is still such a thing as “lead in” on TV, which is basically one show creating an audience for the next show based on the idea that some people are so lazy that they simply can’t be bothered to change the channel, and will watch whatever’s next, regardless of what it is. Are we really this dumb?
