Can anyone tell me why anyone likes horse racing? Today I heard that a horse named “Smarty Jones” won the “Preakness,” and is on his way to a “Triple Crown” and I wonder, “who cares?”
Now I know that some of you feel this way about all spectator sports, but at least with sports they’re playing games most of us have played before, and the contest involves human players of prodigious physical skills. Horse racing not only involves non-human protagonists, but lasts only 1 minute. Why not televise the dog track, or the bull-frog race at the Texas County Fair?
Can anyone who likes horse racing tell me what the hell is going on?
